Not quite sure what you mean by "the season." But to go to your thread topic, winter weather on the Grand Strand. Usually December has high temps of 55-65 degrees, mid 40's at night. January and February are more like 55 day, 40-45 at night. By March you're back up to 60-65 days, 50-55 at night. Usually there are 5 or 6 nights a year where we have a light frost.
So, if you're talking about tourist season, there is none from Nov-Feb. If your talking about beach season, you'll have it all to yourself these months, and the water will be too cold to swim unless you have a stout heart and a good wetsuit. Golf is played all year long and really gets busy in March as Northerners who could not play all winter come here to get an early start on golf season. Hope this helps.
And as Robert Earl Keen would say, "The Party Never Ends", and tourists never really leave. MB just switches from one season to a different one. In November, the Fall golf package season is slowly winding down and the Snowbird season is ramping up to high speed. When that happens, the restaurants get quieter, but it gets real tough to get a table during Early Bird hours.
It's gorgeous. If you enjoy your seasons like I do, then it's not so great. I don't miss winter, but I do miss fall!! And I miss a cold Christmas...odd the things you miss...
In my timeshare book, weeks 5-13 and 44-47 are value weeks and weeks 1-4 (January) and 48-52 (December) are quiet weeks. I find Summers in Myrtle Beach too hot and crowded and love the value time weeks, but have been there during the quiet weeks of December and really enjoyed myself.
There are really good renting values from November--February. We met a couple who live in South Carolina somewhere near Pageland who spend their Summers at home on the farm, but when Winter gets here they head to Myrtle Beach and rent a really cheap condo so they can enjoy the oceanfront in Winter when it would be boring on the farm. They are close enough to home that they can go to check on the farm when needed.
I enjoy the beach in Fall and Winter......the sun and ocean breezes are great. I just take a chair out with my blanket and dog and we hang on the beach for a while reading or playing. There are still some good restaurants open and locals get discounts. This year I'm going to see if I can negotiate a rate to swim at one of the local hotels with an indoor, heated pool....then I won't be missing much of anything!
Hi, I am planning to stay in a hotel on North Myrtle Beach Jan. 1 thru April 1. I am coming from the Northern most part of Massachusetts on the New Hampshire border. Will I need to bring my winter coat and gloves?
An overcoat, or jacket will suffice. You won't need the type of winter coat you're probably used to using way up there..
