I am currently in NY and have had a section 8 voucher for the past 7 years. I want to relocate to Myrtle Beach, SC area. I contacted the housing authority to send me a list of apartments but they told me I had to come into the office. A little bit difficult since I'm still in NY. I want to be sure I have a section 8 apartment before I make the move to SC as I need a place to move to as I don't know anyone in SC to stay with. Does anyone know where I could find such a list and be able to talk to the landlord regarding moving etc. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you in advance. Theresa

I dont see the Carolina Forest having any section 8 housing. Might be wrong but seems like those homes would be out of the question.

Quick look at homes for rent in CF area bring 1200-2400 a month for rent.

If anyone has a list or knows of apartments or condos that accept section 8 vouchers, I'd appreciate any help provided. I'm looking in Horry County, SC. Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Conway or Little River. I have a small dog so I'd need a pet friendly place. Thank you.

I searched Craigslist, and found a few.

You might try Cornerstone Commons in Conway at 843-347-2185. They have 3-bedroom places at $855 and they accept dogs. They use this verbage which I don't understand, but it may mean Section 8: "Cornerstone Commons operates pursuant to Section 42 of the IRS Code as a Affordable Housing Community (Tax Credit). The rents in this community are restricted and there are maximum income limits which apply to these apartment homes."

Also, this place is 2 bedrooms, rents for $700, accepts pets and Section 8: http://myrtlebeach.craigslist.org/apa/4706527572.html

I would say no angelrae because that was the last post/inquiry made by member (at least with that username).

I’m curious why someone who has never lived in SC, nor paid taxes here, feels entitled to a rent subsidy from the hard-working taxpayers of SC. You may not know it, but SC is not a wealthy state and there are plenty of native South Carolinians that should receive that help first.

A better idea would be to stay in your home state, save money, then make the move to SC when you can afford it.
