I am looking for Realtor in Myrtle Beach thinking about relocating.
Can anyone refer me to an African American Realtor that is established in this area?

Your request it 100% racist.......................

Is it ? I guess we would have to know why they would what specifically an African American Realtor versus a realtor of another race. If someone said.. Looking for a Nigerian, Haitian, Italian, Polish, German, Cuban, Realtor...most people would assume for cultural reasons/connections before assuming they were outright racist no?
If someone said they were looking for a "white" realtor.. yes people would say they may be racist... unfortunately the history of realtors and redlining in this country has made that terminology in the industry controversial. There is a National Black Realtors Association.. maybe the person is a member and wants to support it.. .who knows...
At any rate... I am not a realtor.. but from my understanding they cannot speak to issues of race when discussing properties/location/ area demographics etc.. so regardless of the race of the realtor..they should be careful on what information they share openly with their client despite their interest in the matter.

Agreed 100%!
They should be looking for a REALTOR - no color matters.
Can you imagine if that same post said "refer me to a white realtor" - I cannot imagine the hate that would be coming their way.
This discussion points to what I didn't fully understand about "white privilege" until the gruesome death of George Floyd precipitated many conversations with members of the black community.

How do most people choose a realtor? I think most people get one either through a referral from a family member, friend, co worker OR through their own research.. The later may be more applicable for people buying or selling a specific housing product.. condo, historic property, rehab, house flipper, properties in gentrifying/heavy competition areas where they want to work with someone who has considerable experience to insure they are getting the best value. I would venture to guess that most people in this later category would not care what the race of their realtor is because they value the expertise/knowledge over anything else as there is a financial incentive to make the best decision..
If you are just an average buyer or seller with a starter home, move up or looking to relocate etc.. most realtors can assist you with that and it may not require any specific level of specialized expertise. There is still a financial incentive but the motivation may be more towards simply finding a home in the right area for the right price. Here is where race may creep into the picture, not in terms of racism but more implicit bias through the lens of comfort and shared experiences. A young white woman just starting out may choose a person of similar background because of this and the perception of shared experience. Or a young african amerian couple may choose an older african american male as their agent because similarities to a family member or mentor figure..or the reverse.. older couple wanting to help a young realtor because the remind them of a daughter/son or just wanting to help them getting started. When all things are equal..some people will tend to gravitate to what make them more comfortable or shared life experiences.. Does that make them racist?
I cant speak for the OP.. but inquiring about African American Realtors vs "I dont want a white realtor(full stop)" seems like two different things.. Is it implicit bias or racism... I guess only the OP can speak to their intent.
