It sounds to me like we are all going to get this disease eventually.

So what does it matter, sooner or later? There is no indication that Covid 19 will disappear like SARS so what does it matter if you get it soon, 2 months from now, or next winter. You are going to get it.

The initial shut-down was a prudent precaution while we waited to see how deadly it was. Now that we know it is not as deadly as Smallpox or Bubonic Plague, that it is not much more deadly than the annual winter influenza A or influenza B, it is time to open up and let people take their chances with this disease. We can still watch out not to dont overwhelm ICU rooms and ventilators, which are now plentiful since we have made thousands of new ventilators, have hospital ships on standby, and have seen that we can assemble 1000-bed makeshift hospitals in days.

Yes, I realize peolpe over 75 are at more serious risk of death, and everybody needs to focus on protecting them from exposure as we fully open up. Maybe you can't hug grandma anymore.

As far as immunity, even if you only get full immunity from Covid 19 for 2 or 3 months, your symptoms should be milder and duration of illness shorter the second time you get it, since you are starting off with antibodies custom designed to attack it.

Open up already. We need to take our hit and achieve herd immunity. We need to get through the first wave cycle and then really see about immunity and see if the virus contininues to weaken and be less deadly. It is time to stop treating this like some airborn vapor from Mars in a science fiction movie.

Open up already. We flattened the curve. The ICU beds are not overwhelmed. Hot spots can be dealt with on a case by case basis through reintroducing safety measures and if necessary, adding temporary ICU beds with ventilators.

Open up already. Let us get exposed, take our hit, move on, and get over it.
They are searching for volunteers to be deliberately infected with Covid-19 to speed up vaccine trials. You're more than welcome to volunteer to participate in human trials and get back to work if it's not as bad as you think it is. You will get your immunity and I'm sure they would love to have another participant: 1daysooner.org

Except I doubt anyone across the country saying this is a "fake lab made virus" or "not that bad" will sign up to willingly be infected with it. Curious how that works.

I am sure this weekend’s Bone Thugs concert in Murrels Inlet is not helping the cause. Looked really packed. Not sure why people are going to the Strand, it is like a mini-Vegas. Lots of people flowing in and out not being cautious.

And please don't tell me the only reason for the spike is more testing. In Mar/April, testing was primarily limited to those with symptoms or directly exposed, which should have yielded relatively high "% positives". Today we are doing widespread unrestricted testing, which should yield relatively lower "% positives". In Mar/Apr, % positives were in the 5% range, today, they're exceeding 10-15%. That's a very strange flattening of the curve.
Half the response for the increase is the idiots in the CDC were ADDING antibody test results to the swab initial diagnostic tests.
Add that to all the blue states calling almost anyone who died recently a covid casualty, and finally, add tens of thousands of genius rioters and looters congregating and thats why we have higher numbers.

Dr. Fauci: "cautiously optimistic" was six weeks ago (check your own link). His caution was mistaken. Ask him. And stop posting that link. Time's changed, he moved on, you should too.

"The intent of the lock downs was to flatten the curve on DEATHS."

It absolutely was not. The word "deaths" appears only in your link - which is just one man's (wrong) opinion. The "flattening of the curve" was (and remains) primarily about resources, and death is just small part of that. We're trying to not get close to filling ANY hospital - EVER. Got it? That mission statement (to prevent a catastrophic drain on resources) is stated on the WHO sight, the CDC sight, and anywhere else there's an official policy - and the word "death" does not appear, did not appear in March or April, and does not appear now.

Please stop spreading disinformation. It's only making things worse.

We can't all run out and get sick to reach "the herd" threshold (if it exists) because there are simply too few hospital beds to deal with that. Do the math. We're not gonna wear masks forever - nope - just until the "bloom" slows enough NATION WIDE to keep ANY hospital from fretting about rooms and staffing issues.

We have a few problems, the test positivity rate is increasing, which is worrisome. And while it looked like potentially protest would cause a big rise in the results, spikes seem to be concentrated in place where protests are fewer, but more people are out and about. For example, in California - the hardest hit county is Imperial County, which is a rural one near San Diego - and not LA County.

Not when I was growing up, but I can see a lot of photos of people in the MB area out and about, not just at concerts. Doing basic summer stuff and social gathering in large groups.

At some point, you are going to have to come out, and you will have to risk getting infected.

We can't wear masks and stand 6-feet apart for the next 50 years. At some point we have to get back to normal. Even after the 1918 flu, people eventually got back to normal.
Wow. Is this what the majority has believed?
