In process of selling our home and moving to Murrells Inlet. Searched here for vet recommendations and other than Little River, a fair piece away, there was nothing.
Have three dogs, the Golden and the Cardigan are healthy and go once a year. Our Pembroke has had, in the past, pancreatitis. Living in SW Va now, we have used the VTech vet school as well as having great local vet.
Would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations you might offer.
Ark Animal Hospital in Surfside Beach. They are GREAT there ... lots of doctors with different specialties. It's a clean place, reasonable prices and their hours are so convenient. Open late and Saturdays and Sundays.
Thanks folks for the suggestions. Coastal seems unique given their primary purpose in life, which I like. The others all seem more than capable alternatives. Big issue is reaction time and capability for the Pembroke.
The good news is that next to finding a house, this is my most pressing requirement. You have all done well
As the proud "parent" of several chihuahuas and a great cat, it is so reassuring to know there are such great choices at the beach. Thanks to everyone for posting these - definitely a bookmarkable page!
(And I used to hate chihuahuas! )
Thanks again for the help. I was surprised that given a lot of "us" have pets in lieu of children at home, there wasn't more info in "search". I am sure like a lot of us we spend a fair amount at the Vet each year. From my point of where we intend to land, McNeal is closest but still love the goals of Coastal.
Coastal Animal Rescue, a 501(c) 3 organization, is proud to be the only cage-free, no-kill, 100 % volunteer cat and dog shelter in South Carolina. Our mission is to place rescued cats and dogs into loving, permanent homes; to provide a safe and loving home for unwanted cats and dogs in a unique, cage-free environment; to prevent pet over-population through spaying and neutering; and to educate the public about responsible pet ownership.
Since its founding, we have saved over 1,700 cats and 147 dogs (not counting the animals we have helped to be spayed and neutered!) Currently the shelter has about 437 cats and 21 dogs, as some are fostered in homes by responsible pet parents.

I've made an appointment for our Cocker Spaniel to have his teeth cleaned 12/11/13. They charge a lot less than the vet we used to use in Little River.
