Was wondering if anyone here lives in Pawleys Plantation and what they feel are the plus's and negatives if any? How are people from the north accepted?

We were focused on St James Plantation or Ocean Ridge Plantation in NC but just came back from golf trip and we stayed at Pawleys and thought it was beautiful?

Thanks in advance if anyone responds....

Jim

Jim, many of the year-rounders in Pawleys Plantation are transplanted from Northern states. It is a beautiful neighborhood and we have found the residents to be nothing short of courteous, welcoming folk. We were concerned that we would encounter a "High falutin' " attitude but that could not be further from the case- its surprisingly laid back.
We also looked at St. James Plantation and felt that it was WAAAY to big to feel like home; PP is put together in a comfortable manner- people from all over the neighborhood interact with each other and they are very active in the community at large.
There are several very nice properties for sale at the moment, so its a good time to look around.

Biscy, I was down there for my "mancation" in Sept and played that track. We all thought it was way too "tricked up" especially the holes off the ****. We also played Tradition which we loved. For now I am keeping my focus up north with OR and SJP still in the running but keeping an eye on Sea Trail and the new ownership there.

My message was censored. The word I used was one that means a thin land mass that holds back water like in Holland. Unfortunatly it has another meaning which got it kicked out. A "tricked up hole" is one that is more suited for a miniture golf course with a windmill etc. The short (68 yard) par three would fit the definition of a tricked up hole. Just plain goofy.

You've got this altar boy by 4 months as I cross the line mid July. When I told my kids that I started with Latin they wanted to know if they held Mass in the catacombs back then.

No Bisc, not a realtor. An actual propery owner in the neighborhood.
We started the research 4 years ago; the house is slated to be done in jan. I didn't take the search for my "forever" home lightly- so I'm just relaying what I know from our experience.
If you are looking toward a place to retire then Pawleys Plantation is worth considering if your personality fits the neighborhood- its quiet, folks who actually live there are very open to newcomers, yankee or not, and it is without question a lovely neighborhood. If you are a golfer and like easy access to an interesting course, then all the better.
If you want a younger crowd with more interest in making a statement than just enjoying the area, then its probably not for you.

gotcha, gotcha, thanks for clarrifying....They sure had some nice courses down southern end. True Blue and Caledonia were beautiful. Even for a guy who shoots anywhere from a 88 to a 108 depending what side of the bef i get up on....

Oh yes, Latin was the lingo we prayed at. Always had the 6 am mass as The pastor knew i lived across the street from St Aloysius in JC. We used to make 10 bucks at a wedding and 3-5 bucks at a funeral and we thought we were rich......
