Early October, Great. Late October, on the chilly side. You wouldn't think that just a matter of a week or two would make much difference but in the 8 years that I've lived here there is quite a difference in both outside temp and water temp. In late October you can still walk the beach but getting in will be a "brisk" affair lol.
Early October the water is getting a little cool but the sun usually compensates and warms the parts of your body that are above the waters surface.
One thing to note though: we have had unusual amounts of rain this summer and I'm not really sure how that is going to affect our fall season. This summer has been noticeably cooler than any other I can remember. Either way, like everyone else says, October is a great month to come down to Myrtle Beach. The hoards of tourists are gone but the weather is still nice enough for you to go out and do "beach stuff".
I love October any place at the beach.. You can almost smell the fish in the air. Cool nights make a camp fire extra special and the first cup of hot espresso coffee to get a great day started..The kiddies are tucked away in college or school and the crowed beaches of a few weeks before are now almost private just for you. At night you enjoy a nice wine as you look out at the harvest moon hanging low over the water.Ahhhhhh I can still smell the fish..
