When we got into Conway there was heavy traffic and it felt like an exit when you get right off the highway, sorry if that's doesnt make to much sense. We looked into Conway because they have several new home developments there. Most of the new homes we looked into were poor quality and seemed cheaply built. I'm not trying to discourage you, just sharing my experience, hope this helps. Good Luck!
Conway & Myrtle Beach are not for everyone. If you have the opportunity to visit first a couple times I would suggest it. As far as cheaply build homes, you can find that anywhere. If you find a couple houses you like, ask your realtor to find out who built the homes and what their reputation is.

What I'm finding is the people that are moving to Conway from out of state are doing so because they don't want to be in a tourist area but still want to be close enough to enjoy all that it has to offer.

Absolutely, that is why we are considering it. I know some people hate the tourisly things, but we love it. We are both 30, but still are like kids. My wife grew up in Jersey and I grew up in Alabama, so we want a happy median as far as busyness goes. I have heard good things about Conway and N. Myrtle, and am certain we could find a descent house for 200 or less. I am just a little concerned about work I guess. I am a social worker with an emphasis in the mental health side of things, and my wife is a caregiver with the elderly population. I hear that Myrtle is very service-industry/tourism oriented, but don't know much about Conway as far as social service agencies are concerned. You seem to really know the area well, any suggestions?

I don't know much about the job market because I work for myself but I do know there are a couple hospitals here that are supposed to be very good. My neighbor has lived here most of her life and works in the medical field, I can ask her and maybe get some info. for you. Myrtle Beach is so close that even if there were not many jobs in the Conway area, you still wouldn't have to travel far. I'll send you a DM with some info. but check out Conway Medical Center : Conway, SC

By the way....N. Myrtle Beach & Conway are very different from each other. Both nice but different.
