Thanks Vicky. Once I have a fresh prescription I will test all the options.

Only problem with mailorder glasses is you can't try them on and the tech can't adjust them for you

Gary, that is true. However you can upload a picture of yourself and see a virtual image of what the glasses would look like. Also, you can take a pair of glasses to any optician and they will adjust them for you no matter where you bought them. As I said, my cousin has been more than pleased with the glasses she has gotten from this place. There are a lot of other online places that are similar. I have not yet tried any of them because I don't have such a limited budget that I would get my main pair through an online place, but I have considered doing it just for the fun of having several extra pairs of glasses to play with. I mostly wear my contacts though and truth be told, I don't glean too much fun from wearing glasses!

While we're on the subject, has anyone tried the eyeglass place at Market Common? I've been wanting to stop in there to check out their frames, but have not yet done so. I would really love to be able to get some funky and unusual frames. Every place seems to have just variations on the same old things. I'd love to have a pair of retro cat eye frames or something like that.

It is funny that you mention Market Common and if anyone has been to the eye wear place there, it is Distinctive Eye Wear and tonight from 5-7 they are hosting a MB Chamber (invite only) get-together at the shop, with cocktails and hors d'oeuvre, although I will not be there as it is my last night of summer league bowling at Surfside.

Gary, those vintage 50's ones are exactly what I have in mind! I have a pair of black ones, but they are just some really cheap pair that I bought at TJ Maxx about 20 years ago. Even so, I still love them.

Thanks so much for the link. I have googled before, but never seen any that I liked.

So we drove to Americas Best as we live so close to 31 and it was easy.

We came out with no glasses as Mr. Summering has to go to an optomologist. So we will get back there sooner or later.
The only problem was a long wait as it took us two hours and someone before us three hours. The exam went quick and the first initial testing area. Everyone was extremely nice. For some reason even though testing was quick there is big time waiting going on.

I saw some nice glare free coating we'd like to get and some very nice frames.

Seriously? You waited for 2 hours and are still going to go back sometime? You have way more patience than I. Sorry it was for naught and hope you find a good ophthalmologist for Mr. Sum.

Well Vexy now I have a credit coming because I just paid $60.00 for nothing. The perscription will be no good after his eyes are done....
Meaning I just threw away sixty bucks. Kerplunk.....
So...to get some kind of credit back I would get most of it "if and when" we buy glasses there.
Believe me I will express to them on the phone that after two hours last time I'd like to have a time
set for us to be taken right away. Hope they ponder that...

Thanks for spelling that right.....
