I wouldn't drive more than 30 minutes for almost any store. I would say I've been in about six Trader Joes in different areas and different states and they were all different than each other. Some were huge, almost like a regular supermarket and others were small like a specialty shop. Obviously the ones that were large had a huge selection of products and thats what we need here. I currently shop in 4 or more stores to get what I used to in just one before I moved here. Trader Joes, Whole Foods or Wegmans would be great but I would be shocked if one opened here anytime soon. I know from working in that business, well actually in any large business they do market research before spending millions of dollars. My guess is the market research would tell them not to open here. They go by average income, age, target audience and many other factors. Maybe in a few years if the economy continues to grow, people continue to move here and hopefully income rises they will open. If Trader Joes did franchise, maybe someone would consider taking a chance and open a small store here. I thought of it a few years ago, looked into it and thats when I discovered they don't franchise.

Rapture, I agree with you about Whole Foods and Wegman's, both great stores. I too, wish we had something similar near by. I do stand by my statement about Eden Gourmet. I would be willing to drive a fair way away just to be able to shop there. I could put a cooler in the back of my car!

Have you ever been to one of them? If not, next time you are in NJ and have a chance, check it out.

I'll be in NJ in May but I don't know of an Eden Gourmet it must be towards the city and I have just not come across it in Northern NJ.
But, now...a Wegmans like the one in Dickson City, Pa or even better the one in Binghamton, NY would be just awesome. I'd love it.
So where do I head vrexy to see this Eden?

There is also one in Atlantic City in that indoor mall. Not sure why that location isn't listed.....

Our trader Joe's on Boylston st Boston is so itty bitty, cramped, dirty actually filthy that it kind of turned me off from visiting another.

I'm in the market for....a new market. I've tried several in the area and for now shop at Lowe's food.

Default Reading labels is key

Thanks vrexy for that clip, I haven't shopped in Whole Foods but have many friends that love WF. I know that I was disappointed at Lowes when I bought 'Wild Alaskan Salmon' that was a product of China, and even at our local Berrys Seafood market, the Calamari was from China.
I was surprised at first but now.....I'll be reading closely.

Yes, I was shocked and saddened to read this and also very disappointed by the response from WF. Just goes to show you that you can't take anything at face value and that we all need to do research into the foods we eat and the so called scientific studies that are published. So much misinformation is out there.

Ok, North Jersey girl hasn't been to those towards the city, or in the city.
I've been in the indoor mall at Atlantic City but it was awhile ago.
Sounds interesting though...
