We are hoping to make a jaunt to Pawleys Island and environs before year's end and I was wondering if there are any fun events this time of year that we could include in our visit. The calendar I saw only lists the Rotary meetings...

I'm afraid you'll find the general PI culture tends to be averse to festivals and events. (Risks drawing in riff-raff, you see.) The exceptions are the annual Pavillion reunion in May and the Fall Festival of Music which seems to go on forever.

Fortunately, you don't need to travel too far to find all the activities anyone could want. Generally, the further you drive from PI, the higher the likelihood the events will be **gasp** free! Here's some resources, depending upon your travel dates.

Benefit Oyster Roast and Seafood Festival in PI
Brookgreen Gardens' Nights of a Thousand Candles (http://www.brookgreen.org/NOTC.cfm - broken link)
Georgetown County Visitors Bureau Calendar of Events (http://www.hammockcoastsc.com/EventsSpecials/CalendarofEvents/tabid/145/Default.aspx - broken link)
Murrells Inlet 2020 Calendar of Events
Murrells Inlet MarshWalk Calendar of Events (http://www.murrellsinletmarshwalk.com/events.html - broken link)

This list doesn't include the abundance of festivals, etc up in MB or NMB. I'll let someone more familiar with that area offer those suggestions. Another good option is the Kicks magazine in the MB Sun News, which covers the general Grand Strand area. You can sign up online to have them email you a copy weekly.

Thanks, Dude.
I'm just looking to see what may be going on that could provide a distraction if we do make it down there. I like attending local festivals when we go places just to see how folks spend leisure time there.
