Hi,
We have been looking to move down to SC. We have found a nice home we like in Garden City on the Blvd. A few blocks north of Atlantic. We were down this past weekend, and loved the area. I have only been there in the winter months. can someone help me with how crowded is this area in the summer. I am hoping it is not a packed as Mytle Beach is. I have been looking for population statistics, but no luck. I am sure there is a beach crowd during the summer, but how bad is it? Any help would be great. Thanks

The beach does get crowded in the summer, but mostly because it is not as big as Myrtle Beach. So although there may not be as many people, it still appears crowded. There is also road traffic during this time period, but nothing unbearable. The crowds really start to thin out later in August. In September the weather is still perfect for beach going and the crowd has all gone home.

We are located about 14 blocks up from the pier and the beach really doesn't get uncomfortably crowded further away from the pier, I've found. I may be biased but I think Garden City is the perfect little area. It has that 50's coastal village feel but is close enough to Murrels Inlet and the MB activities. I hope you come to like it as much as we do......

I lived on the beach in Garden City for 12 years south of Atlantic Avenue (I don't consider north of Atlantic Avenue Garden City Beach) and loved it but there were also some things I hated.

In the winter Garden City is all yours. Except for the point, very very few people live there all year long. It's quiet and it is peaceful. I miss my runs through Garden City in the winter months.

In the summer it is hell. Every single one of the neighboring houses is a rental and every week you have new neighbors and it seems to be the only week a year they vacation. In the peak months when rentals are expensive, it seems like they pack 40 people in each home.

I had to call the homeowners all the time and remind them of the 10PM noise ordinance (at 10PM at night) so I could get some sleep at night.

Learn to sleep through fireworks. Every single night from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

During bike week you will have to buy ear plugs so you can sleep.

You cannot leave a single thing outside in your yard or it will get stolen. Nothing.

Traffic is a mess trying to turn left on to Atlantic Avenue.

I suggest you try a rental before you buy. While I loved it, I don't think I could move back down there.
