I was considering attending the "Taste of the Town" event at the convention center tomorrow evening with my neighbor and her father. She said it was $6 at the door. Seemed like it would be worth it.

However, I just checked it out online and it is $6 at the door to get in, but then you have to purchase $1 food tickets. How does that work??

That is what turned me off about the Octoberfest at the Boardwalk. There were long lines to buy beer tickets (at a buck a pop) and then long lines to get beer. A 16oz draft of Bud was three tickets. I assumed that bigger drafts and other beers were more (tickets). I went thursty.....

While I don't mind supporting chariable events, the above process (and please correct me if I am not understanding the whole thing) is too complicated. I'd rather pay a flat $20 at the door and be able to eat my way though......

I went last year and it's not worth it but that's just my opinion. The two of us paid at the door, spent over $30 inside with samples and then had to stop and get something to eat on the way home. That sounds like a lot of food but it wasn't. The samples are small and overpriced. On the other hand, if you've never been it's something different to do to check out for yourself. I would never go again.

And, it was in the Sun News yesterday that they will charge you $3 to park in the Convention Center parking lot.

The $3 parking charge is the convention center's doing, not the ToT.

ToT, in my opinion, is more of a social scene that anything else. Granted, you can get some really tasty samples from all the different vendors and some of the booths are pretty neat to see, but don't go expecting to eat like you would were you going to dinner. At least it's never worked that way for me.

I disgree...I have found it to be one of the best events in Myrtle Beach. I found the food prices(tickets per plate) to be lower this year but the food still top knotch.
If you enjoy food and trying new things it is alot of fun. If you are just going for a deal then it is probably not for you. We spent a total of 50.00 for the three of us and were stuffed...and even came home with six cupcakes.
