The Garden City WalMart opens 8 am Wednesday. Much closer for me than the 544 store. Question is, what will be my quickest route? 17 Bypass and the Garden City Connector or straight across 17 from Tournament and left on Business 17?? I guess it will depend on the time of day and day of the week (and in season/out season)......

I'd go 17 Bypass to right turn on Garden City Connector. There is a better entrance to the new parking lot from the Connector.

I went to the new Walmart this morning, not because it was the grand opening but because I needed a few things and it is closer than the one on 544. I made it to the parking lot , turned around, and in about 15 minutes time managed to navigate back out to the road (where I headed to Kmart). Who knew a grand opening at Walmart would be such a hot spot?

Yes, I went today at around 12:30. The lot was full, but I was lucky to grab a spot near the front (where they were selling hot dogs and a soda for $1). Inside did not seem too crowded and I took my time looking around (spent around $80). I was even able to check out at an empty register. And, Teddyterp, the GC Connector is the way to get there and business 17 the way to get home.....

Overall I am glad it is open.

I went for the Grand Opening and still found it much calmer than the Surfside one. I parked about a third of the way down and got the few things I needed and someone checked me out without WAITING!!!! This am after I dropped my child at school I went back to get the two things I forgot in my excitment of a a beautiful organaized store (wonder how long that will last?) and I got a spot right in front of the door.

I went yesterday too. It is a copy of the new Carolina Forest Walmart. Lot of people there.

I wish the others had as many check outs open as that one had yesterday!
