If I am not mistaken Pym was the most famous Yellowjacket, but he wasn't the only one. Rita DeMara was Yellowjacket with the same powers minus the rage which was a throwaway nod to the Pym Yellowjacket. The stakes were not really world threatening in the movie, just a bad guy weapons designer trying to sell a suit. Not the most original but it was better that the random twist in Wonder Woman.
What "random twist"? Ares' disguise? His human form was perfect. The proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing. What I would have changed is the actor for Ares. Darren Cross was YINO (Yellowjacket-In-Name-Only). He was a one-note knockoff who was tonally uneven and served to be the "bad guy" in the 1960s sense of the term.

Well, you hated the movie. You know, "ripped off The First Avenger" and all that.
