Those are some pretty strong statements from the Airport President. He must be really ticked at them. If there's a shortage of pilots for them, I'm not sure I'd want to fly with pilot that was down the desirability scale (assuming they may hire some second and third choice applicants).

I'm fairly sure they fly out of the Jackson, MS, airport ... anybody heard if they're having similar scheduling issues there?

When Silver Airlines started service in Huntsville, there was a delay of some months because, as I recall, their airplanes had not been FAA certified, but I don't recall there being any non-communication issues. They too fly into Orlando (McCoy instead of the airport in Sanford). According to this link, they still are advertising flights from Mobile, Jackson, Birmingham, and Montgomery to Orlando/Sanford.

Frontier isn't all that highly rated by users, but they have the best looking airplanes I've seen.

Looks like Gulf Shores is making plans for a passenger terminal.

I think it's a waste.

It would be a small in operation probably with more seasonal flights. GS/OB Trying to tap more into the national market outside the region. To do that an airport closer maybe needed. I think it would have a much greater impact on the P-cola airport than the Mobile one since most of mobile travel is business and not leisure. Still feel that it might not be needed.

You don't think Mobile moving its passenger service to Brookley is a waste, yet you do think Gulf Shores' terminal is a waste? Talk about inconsistency. I can't think of a bigger waste than what Mobile is doing.

Gulf Shores has a great location. A small terminal with seasonal flights seems like a slam dunk to me. Pensacola serves Pensacola/Gulf Breeze, Ft. Walton serves Destin area, NW Beaches serves Panama City. There is room for this down there for that community.

Flights from the new downtown airport have been sold out on a regular basis (See article above). So how exactly is this a waste? Or is it just that you live in west mobile (or Mississippi/Alabama Line) so the new location wouldn't be an convenient for you?

I'm excited about the growth of the new airport and the fact that it's easy access for everyone, not just those that live in West Mobile.

Whatever happened to those "two new carriers" coming to downtown that we were teased with a few months ago?
