Sadly that's the world we live in.

I was working at a Convenience Store that got cited for having an unnaproved Extension Cord to light a Halloween Decoration, away from any person's reach, however Health adn Safety claimed it was a hazard, adn could harm patrons, employees, and the building. Pretty lame and pretty pathetic, however the State of Minnesota says no. Thats the nature of the beast. If you want to run a business in the State of Minnesota, you have to follow some harsh and stupid rules. If you dont like it, shut your bar down and work the 8-4 at the local factory.

Just because you're in your living room doesn't mean its legal to kill somebody, shoot heroine, or watch little boys on the internet. Just like if you own a bar, you cannot have cigarettes.

So knke09402, then you shouldn't feel bad if a loved one of yours was burned to death in a fire while shopping at a store that allowed a fire hazard to exist???? Doubtful. If you are like most people who frown upon the government enforcing safety regulations, you would sue the pants of the store claiming negligence. There are a variety of different types of electrical cords, extension cords and power outlets. There use is regulated due to the fact that many of these may pose a fire hazard. Any public facility, including stores, is expected to abide by these safety regulations. Think back to some of the disasters that have cost other people their lives. Do you think it was OK for the builders of the 35W bridge to use plates that were half the required thickness? Those regulations are there for a reason and that is to protect good people from those who are choose not to or are not smart enought to provide environments that minimize known risks to others.
