Mogadishu you say? Seems a bit of a stretch to me since there are over 68,000 people in St. Cloud and only 1,596 Somalis have been settled in all of Stearns County from 2005-2018. Also, how certain are you that refugee resettlement is causing a huge drain on tax dollars? From reports I’ve read most of the costs are federally funded, including the cash assistance and medical assistance programs which are both 100% federally funded for up to 8 months after arriving in the U.S. Meanwhile if they work they are paying income taxes, their rent or mortgage pays property taxes and all their purchases pay sales taxes, so even though they may get some help initially they are also paying into state and federal tax coffers.

Im not here to argue with your falsities. 1500 somali in st cloud is a laughable number. Try 15k. The bottomline is there wouldnt be a vote going on if refugee resettlement wasnt coming out of peoples federal and state tax dollars. just use a little bit of common sense here brother.

There are refugees per capita in Minnesota than any other state.

The Somali day care fraud has cost the state millions of dollars. The state of Minnesota is so poorly managed that no one knows how much has been taken in these scams and there is no indication that it’s been stopped.

There there are the reports of Minnesota being a recruiting center for radical Islamists.

And our congresswoman is an anti-Semite. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/o...overseas-roots

It’s not really surprising that there is a backlash against the refugee resettlement program.

I provided sources to back my numbers. You care sharing a source to back your claim that there are 15,000 Somalis living in St. Cloud?

The New York Times says that 18% of St Cloud’s 70,000 people are black with most coming from East Africa. That is closer to 15,000 than 1,500 and given the Times’ bias on the issue they are probably low balling the figure.

I ask you a simple question and you resort to personal attacks. It doesn’t really help your case. But you know from “personal experience” that there are 15,000 Somalis living in St. Cloud and expect me to just take you at your word? Is this what the Somali leaders that you know personally told you and you just took their word for it?

According to the website I have linked below, the black or African American population of St. Cloud was 7,998 between 2013-2017 and 6,865 were foreign born (however there a couple thousand Hispanic/Latinos and a couple more thousand Asians also living in the city, some of which are likely foreign born as well).

At most the Somali population in the city is half of MrMinneapolis’ claim of 15,000. So there you have it.

My source is from 2019 so it’s newer data than yours. 18% of 70,000= 12,600

Either way, it’s a lot more than the 1,500 you originally claimed.

I think we’re looking at roughly the same data. The 18% was referring to the non-white population and it appears they lumped in Hispanic, Asian, Native Americans and Pacific Islanders into that figure. Blacks or African Americans made up 7,998 of the 14,312 that made up the total non-white population in the city according to as far as I can tell is the most recent demographic data available.
