It kills all the nasty bugs like they have down south, at least keeps them at bay.

It's too cold for my husband to go grocery shopping again and buy a bunch of junk we don't need and has to eat what we have in freezer and not be wasteful.

Anything else this cold weather is good for?

It is good for looking at maps of canoe routes in the BWCAW, and trip planning for possible dates.

It is good for campfires, and hot apple cider. I was just out hiking late at night on the 22 of this month for
about 4 miles round trip, on the ditch along side a water way.

Really the list can go on for many other things.

Yesterday morning I left the house at 8 am, drove south into Wisconson and spent the day hiking in logging areas putting on almost 3 miles round trip, then drove back home.

It keeps invasive species away, such as Californians (haha, funny right). Even that didn’t work because I am from there...

I really like the winter scenary and the freezing over of the lakes and rivers.

I took my niece ice skating yesterday at one of the local parks. The ice was great quality.

It feels appropriately cold for Minnesota. I actually enjoy wintertime.

Quite honestly, I've always thought that it's a good option for suicide. I don't think freezing to death would be a bad way to go. Just get in your car with several bottles of the hard stuff, park on one of the barely used gravel back roads far from any town, take off your coat, hat and mittens, glug down as much of your tipple of choice as you can as fast as you can, and . . . there ya go!

(No, I'm not at all suicidal. But I have just kind of thought about this on a 30 below day or two!)

It's good for being guilt-free about not going out and doing yard work...

It's good for keeping the riff raff indoors instead of roaming the streets.

Yeah, I know.....totally politically incorrect. Sorry, riff raff.

Ya, but it helps keep the riffraff from moving down here.

As for one of the many benefits of MN's wonderfully frigid winters: Ice fishing! Being able to eat freshly caught fish you just pulled out of that deep lake that can now be safely fished from.

Didn't the artist formerly known as Prince (RIP) say something similarly?
