I don't mind th cold, and would venture out for short periods of time. But hot chocolate with little marshmallows after being out and getting a frozen face.

brings back childhood memories, playing for hours outside and coming in right down to the basement to undress and my mom making hot chocolate for us while we thaw out. Only to do it again the next day.

Winter is good for turning mud into not-mud.

Much easier to clean dog feet, and less mopping of floors is required.

My dad was born and raised in International Falls and when we were kids and complaining about the cold he always said, “keeps the riff riff and the weak away”. He never meant it in a mean way, it was more as a joke. Since I’ve moved to CA I’ve commented to locals about how much homelessness I see. They ask if we have it in MN and I always say some, but 6months of the year it kills you, and that keeps it minimal.

The trash can in the garage doesn't get stinky.
The cats that I had that liked to sneak out didn't in the sub zero weather.

Maybe that's what we need some very cold days to discourage the cat. he is always trying to sneak outside. Although last time he came right back, i guess he doesn't like the rain but it is not really altering his behavior much.

It's too cold for my husband to go grocery shopping again and buy a bunch of junk we don't need and has to eat what we have in freezer and not be wasteful.

Anything else this cold weather is good for?

LOLLOL

I mean, there's that, of course we don't have to deal with centipedes right now or mosquitoes.

Crime literally falls off the map in weather like this though.

Cold doesn't keep bad people out. Look at Alaska. One of the highest violent crime rates in the USA. Very cold place. Cold weather didn't keep gangs from going up to the Twin Cities. Detroit, Flint, and Saginaw get some very cold winters. Hasn't kept the gangs and criminals out. Buffalo, some of the harshest winters in the USA. It also has one of the highest violent crime rates in the USA.
