Then again, it's hard to trust the accuracy of forecasts anymore after the "suprise" heavy snowfall that hit Scranton, PA a few weeks ago. What was only supposed to be "an inch" turned out to be a half-foot in the urbanized areas and a foot in the Poconos. If this storm is anything like that one, then perhaps I should start firing up the snowblower after all.

I've been staring at the LSMMA webcam with extreme envy. It's supposed to actually snow here in Portland, OR this Saturday too. Of course if we're lucky it will be all of 1/2 an inch and unfortunately it will probably melt within the hour... Leaving us with the usual damp gray Portland winter weather.

Here in Michigan we have been getting snow almost everyday. Accumalating snow isnt hard to find... and our temperatures are below freezing lately.
I'm jealous that Mn may get 12+ inches of snow... We welcome snow here in Michigan with open arms. Since Sunday our temperatures may go up to 37 degrees that will change snow to rain. What does that do? Melts the snow! Rains on us!
No fun, I rather have snow then a muddy rainfall. I hope the radars are wrong about Mn getting any snow above 3inches. Hopefully Michigan can easily see 20+ of snow ( or at least 12+). I'm keeping update to the local forcast... its basicly December... increase demand for snow.

Default updated on saturday's storm

Working tonight and looking at latest model data incoming...and storm is still on track. heaviest snow band likely from watertown-brookings sd northeast through the central part of the state (Alexandria-St Cloud-Willmar) then to Duluth where 8 to 12 inches will be common...with Duluth likely getting the highest amount.

The area from Sioux Falls to the Twin Cities will see 6+ inches of snow Saturday morning-midday and then likely go over or mix with some sleet or freezing rain saturday afternoon before ending saturday night making for a very bad travel situation.

Less snow and more freezing rain and sleet will occur further south across the Albert Lea into Austin and Rochester-La Crosse areas with significant icing very possible saturday midday into saturday evening.

Northwestern Minnesota will see 3 to 6 inches from Detroit Lakes to Bemidji to Roseau and International Falls.

Have fun! Confidence is pretty high in this event....but please dont yell if conditions vary from above where you live as snow/ice transitions are very difficult to predict.

From what the weather reports and maps look like it isn't so much a matter of yes or no but how much. It looks like most of the state is going to get something. Here is hoping that the 'heavy' band of snow sneaks a bit south on us and we get 2 feet in the twin cities!!! It has been a LONG time since we have had a HUGE dumping of snow like that. Better get the sleds down!!

Me and the boy went for a little ramble around the 'hood. This is why I'll never leave Minnesota.
