Would it be a big loss for the state if the T'Wolves left or not?

Not saying its going to happen, just saying does anyone actually watch them?

Basically, the Wolves have had ONE year of relevance in 23 seasons. So no, the casual sports fans wouldn't miss them. I get the sense that most basketball fans in this state would gladly sack the Wolves for a winning Gophers squad. People didn't exactly descend on Target Center with torches and pitchforks when they were on their way to New Orleans.

I would miss them. If they left, an NBA team would probably reemerge with a new and stupid nickname much like the Wild. There is something to be said for having all of the big four sports in your market.

On a side note, doesn't the Target Center renovation passed in the Vikings bill lock them in for the foreseeable future?

It still means 41 home games at the Target Center downtown. I don't know the average attendance, but even if it is just 10,000 per game that is over 400,000 people in downtown Minneapolis and that can only help the downtown scene and economy. If I remember correctly, they got off to a good start and even beat the OKC Thunder at home early in the season, but unfortunately cooled off real fast after some injuries to key players.

Wolves are averaging 16,500!

16,500 * 41 = 676,500 downtown!

I agree that it can only help.

The Timberwolves have built quite the fan base. The franchise is in it's 24th season I believe. They have finished above .500% in winning only 8 times and are not on pace to do that this season. In the heart of the "KG years" (1996-2005) they built up quite the fan base that remains pretty strong, even with the all the losing before then and after. That 2003-2004 season was great. I can remember it like yesterday!

I wouldn't want them to leave. Having four professional teams gives your city a little more credibility, believe or not, that's just the way it is. They have no where to go, and if they go to KC, MSP will be just like KC- with three pro teams. Yay!

Joking aside, keep em' here, it's just a matter of time before they're sold to a new owner who actually cares
