Sorry, but yeah, Lucas Oil is ugly (and I've seen it in person too). I'd rather see something bold than just a giant brick box.

All I ask is that a little bit of imagination be used in the design, as this opportunity to create a lasting impression of the Mpls skyline will not come around again for quite some time. This is called Vikingskipet (The Viking Ship) that was built in Norway for speedskating during the '94 Olympics....

The state is paying $348 million from Electronic Pull-tabs and bingo. the Minnesota State Lottery already funds billions of dollars to Wildlife in Minnesota.
The remaining $150 million is coming from and already exsisting MPLS sales & hospitality tax.

So, unless you gamble or spend a lot of time staying in hotels downtown MPLS, then the burden to you is nothing.
Just wondering a few things you might know:
Are downtown restaurants included in that tax? Working downtown.
Do you happen to know if the tax is just downtown or the entire Minneapolis area?
Do you know what the tax rate will be, or is now? 7%?
Do you know how long it is projected to collect those taxes to pay $348 million from the pulltabs and bingo and how long the collection for the $150 million from sales and h. tax?
That seems like a LOT of bingo... meanwhile the taxpayer subsidizes that costs till funds are collected?

Thanks

They are anticipating $59 million annually from Pull-Tabs & Electronic Bingo by 2014.
This isn't just a guess, shot in the dark... It's a studied, calculated dollar amount.
IF it ends up being less, a "Vikings" themed lottery ticket and 10% Suite Tax would be implemented, which would contribute $4 million if needed.

It's a 30-year term, with the City of MPLS spending $678 million of the life of the deal for construction costs, operation costs and interest.

I haven't liked almost any of the concepts I've seen yet. The ones in the article don't look like stadiums. The first concept looks like the stadium is trying to be a modern sculpture.. No football or stadium implied. The second looks like a big white pastry sitting by itself on a grey metal table.

We need a unique stadium, but not some modern, pretty, wedding dress shaped building that a person can't tell is a stadium. Sorry for the negativity.

they're going to spend $1B on a stadium to put in features that are worse than the metrodome...I don't think so. You can always go see a Gopher game if you want to sit on a metal bench squeezed between two fat guys.
