I don't know either, but I do have that impression. Maybe it is just me, then. But that wouldn't make sense since I think that Canada is a pretty fine country. Maybe Frued has an answer to this.....

Look, someone threw out the question of why Samoli's and African Americans do not get along. The obvious answer is because it is a cultural thing and just because both groups are black does not mean that they will automatically love each other. I just used white America and Canada to help show this point, but I guess that I ended up with a foot in my mouth instead

No, you actually could be right in general. I dunno. I've just never heard it before, that's all.

As has been said, the Lutheran Social Services makes Minnesota Americas #1 dumping ground for the worlds "refugees". There is also a large Somali presence in Providence, RI.

Wow that's awfully nice of you.

Up to this point, I thought it was pretty admirable that the state of Minnesota has been opening its doors to the refugees of the world and offering them new opportunities in the U.S. But if the average Minnesotan shares your attitude about it, then I suppose people there aren't so nice after all.

Are you implying that whites commit most, or even alot, of the violent crime in the Twin Cities?????
If so, you couldn't be more wrong. All the statistics show, and any cop will tell you that the vast majority of violent crime is committed by blacks and hispanics. Not just in Minneapolis, but ANY American city
Now, before you get your knickers in a twist, I am *NOT* necessarily saying Somalis. But you are on very shaky ground by try making an association between whites and violent crime. No matter how much you may want to believe that, it is simply not reality. Research violent crime statistics (by race), as well as inter-racial crime stats (i.e. black-on-white crime), and then get back to me about who you think the violent criminals really are.

Yes, that is exactly what I am implying. It's strictly a numbers game. If you look at the statistics of the amount of white people incarcerated, it will appear to be a small percentage simply because of the sheer amount of whites in this country. If you look at the statistics for blacks or Hispanics, you will get a higher percentage. But, if you translate those percentages into actual human beings you will see that the amount of crime committed by white people far out number those of any other particular race.

Yes, gang members are predominately Hispanic, black, and Asian-(if you don't consider the Hell's Angles and other biker gangs gangs) and they do create a lot of homicides, but that is not the only violent crime. Look at any sexual offender site and you will see that they are predominately (if not ALL) white.

I know that Catholic Charities help out those from Western Africa as well. To be honest I am not to hip on the Lutherans, but if they are willing to help people from a war-torn country get the help and assistance that they need, then more power to them.

No, people in Minnesota were mostly like you, until the 'refugees' actually moved in and their delusional philosophy was confronted with painful reality. Then, most of them became like me (save for the most idealistic kum-bye-ya types)

Not really sure what "painful reality" you're referring to. Like the times I occasionally see a few Somalians walking down the street or in a market? I guess you will have to break it down a bit further and explain to me exactly what the problem is.

Also, consider the same thoughts occured to the inhabitants of Minnesota when your ancestors hopped off the boat

Since most Minnesotans don't interact at all with these immigrants (save for seeing them occasionally on the sidewalk or in a store), I'm curious why their attitude towards them would change?

I rather enjoyed seeing an increasing number of Somalis and other folks when I was shopping at Eden Prairie Center. Their dress made the place more colorful, and I didn't see or sense any negatives at all. FWIW.
