Are they supposed to be in the Cities proper? Are cats and dogs safe from them?

No, coyotes will catch, and eat whatever they can including cats, and dogs. They will jump fences to get at what they consider food including fluffy.

Cats, and smallish dogs are not safe from larger dogs either. Many dogs have a high prey drive, and can be aggressive towards smaller animals.

And yes, coyotes can be found in many cities.

Not so much this past year, but they are common in Edina around the High School. Cats and small dogs are not safe from them. Even medium sized dogs will be in trouble unless they are very tough.

1. Yes, they actually are suppose to be here.
2. While there might be some unconfirmed reports of cats and dogs hooking up and running with coyotes, most of the time the coyotes will just eat them.

They are scarce but we have them in rural southern MN.

I did see one along 169-S and another running in the ditch near the Mall of America once. Had to do a second take.

I used to run across paths with one (coyote) in St Louis Park a few years ago along the Cedar Lake trail (while LRT construction was on-going). There was a lady (from the Nordic plant) that would feed the Birds in Lilac Park on a regular schedule. Guess who would be lurking near by much of the time?

He didn't want anything to do with people, he kept his distance. When we got too close by accident he'd turn and run.

LOL- They don't know what a city is but they DO know there are plenty of little snacks roaming around that area. Cats and small dogs are in danger for sure.

It is a coyote. I was out there and I saw it. Another guy was out there with his dog and he said he believes there's three of them basiclaly living on the course right now.
