I believe it was a evergreen tree farm prior. What is your budget plays a big role in looking at places. Edina, my friend owns a condo near the mall that he paid around $100k about 10 years ago, the most expensive place currently on market in Edina is Ryan Suter’s place for $5m (he played for our local NHL team, the Wild).
Thanks, this is definitely very helpful. My preference would be a neighborhood with character, as opposed to a cookie-cutter one, but it's always good to have a plan B. As a single woman, the main feature I'm looking for is safety and Woodbury appears to be very safe. Then again, most of the other suburbs I'm looking into are safe as well.

I think the Minneapolis metro area looks promising. I'm looking forward to moving there and will keep you guys posted in the coming months.

Around 50th and France in Edina/SW Mpls has lots of character, but prices reflect it.

No kidding, geez. These apartments are out of my budget unless I go southeast towards the Best Buy HQ, and even there it's kinda tight. These are studios/1BRs I'm looking at.

Guess I'll stick to St. Paul towards the airport. Would like to be near the MOA and/or near a major bus line.
