A day after it was revealed that GOP state Sen. Dave Senjem tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a Nov. 5 party caucus, news broke that Republican senators and staffers were informed in a Tuesday memo that “a number of [GOP Senate] members and staff have been diagnosed with COVID-19.”

DFLers were not informed of the rash of cases on the other side of the aisle.

Some serious self examination is required by the Republicans in the state Senate after this action. This is just a failing at the most basic human level.

Only people who have had close contact need to be informed. For others who may have been in the same general public places, the risk of infection is no greater than that to the general public. This is what MDH protocol calls for.

The DFL and the propaganda arm on the Strib are using this infection to score political points. Some serious self examination is required by the DFL in the state Senate and the Strib after this action. This is just a failing at the most basic human level.

The question is whether there was some obligation to notify the DFL. Since it seems unlikely that DfLers were at the Republican caucus, and the notice was sent to Republican attendees, the fake outrage over the lack of notice to the DFL would be propaganda intended to falsely cast the Republicans in an unfavorable light. So **** off.

If you’re a liberal, you viciously manipulate and distort any given situation in order to gain an otherwise unachievable advantage and spread lies like flies. It’s what you do!

Geez, a single post and you’re already triggered.

It’s unlikely that my seventh grader would be in the fourth grade classroom but when one of them contracts COVID, I get a notification. Same thing at work. I’m not on the manufacturing floor but if someone gets it everyone is notified.

Republicans have spent no small amount of time downplaying the severity of this pandemic so it’s no surprise that they’d want to conceal an outbreak. Common courtesy, if not common decency, would suggest you notify the people you share a building with that you’ve had an outbreak in your area.

You mean like manipulating wild, uncorroborated tales and outright lies of vote manipulation in order to gain the otherwise unachievable advantage of overturning a landslide election that favored Joe Biden?

Isn’t that what conservatives are doing at this very moment?

That is unusual and unnecessary. At our school, grades are mostly kept apart and only the grades involved in a positive test are notified. Sports is one exception.

I wasn’t notified about this case because I didn’t have any contact with him and neither did the DFL.

The DFL members hadn’t had contact with the person who tested positive, though the Republicans should have put out a general notice or press release simply to avoid giving the Democrats any political ammunition.

They created their own unfavorable light. The have a clear moral obligation to inform the people they were scheduled to meet with after learning they had a number of their own Senators and possible staff infected.

Kent’s call for Gazelka to resign comes after reports of two positive tests among other GOP senators, two in-person meetings and a GOP dinner party. On Tuesday, Republican senators and staffers were informed that “a number of [GOP Senate] members and staff have been diagnosed with COVID-19.” The memo was not shared with Senate DFLers.

We also learned that Gazelka failed to inform the staff and owner at the Lake Elmo venue where they met until a week later. To echo a previous post title here, we clearly have a leader unfit for office.

“Scheduled to meet with” is future tense. They had no contact with DFL members in the previous weeks so there was no need to notify them. This is just the same old political posturing by the Democrats and their tools.

I think you mean a weak justification by Republicans and their tools. The failure to not notify the staff at the lake Elmo is clearly a sign of being unfit to lead.

Your entire argument is built on a false premise. The responsibility to identify and notify close contacts rests with the Minnesota Dept of Health, not the person testing positive or their work associates. See item 3 at the link.

Do you not trust the MDH to do their job? Is Walz mismanaging contact tracing? Are you simply misinformed, having accepted what was written in the media at face value? Or is this fake outrage to score political points?
