Hey all,

I'm a 25 year old and moving up to Minneapolis for my job at the end of December. I'd love to hear some info about good neighborhoods to check out (living wise).

I actually lived up near the Phillips neighborhood back about 5 years ago prior to graduating for a little bit and loved the area. Been itching to get back after stays in Chicago and Des Moines.

I also am ideally looking to find a roommate or two if possible to mitigate costs. So hit me up if you're in the same boat/know someone in the same situation. The plan is the end of December/very latest being January 1st.

Right off 35 near Wells Fargo and the greenway? Definitely. Uptown was a stone toss away, close to downtown/easy access to freeway to go wherever you needed to in the city.

Very much enjoyed it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Philips. I'd take Philips over the suburbs any day.

Phillips is fine so long as personal safety is not a priority.

I’d live in a condo in the Midtown Exchange. Outside of that I’d probably pass on Phillips. There are better areas in the city.

Minneapolis has changed a lot since June 2020 and not in a good way....

Personal safety should be a priority anywhere regardless if the area is crime-ridden. It's infuriating that scared white flighters act like crime doesn't exist in the suburbs too. Besides, just because a certain demographic happens to inhabit the area, doesn't mean it's bad. As someone who grew up in Detroit, I can reasonably assert that Minneapolis' "bad neighborhoods" are pale in comparison.

Philips is a wonderful neighborhood. I recommend it to the OP contrary to popular opinion on here. I'll bet the majority of the naysayers have never lived in Philips (let alone driven through the neighborhood) and only form their opinions based on what they hear on the news and from those in their social circles.
