Just wondering. The cities can't possibly be as liberal as I see on CD or in the Star Tribune.

Can they?

How you doing with that? Do you coexist just fine for the most part, or are you ready to hike it to a place like Texas or Florida? Just wondering if it's the media that makes MSP seem like the liberal capital
of the north, or if it actually is?

I work in the western exurbs and a lot of my coworkers are very conservative. I usually vote DFL or Green but I still hang out with them after work and consider them my friends. I think in general Minnesotans of different political stripes are good at getting along with each other on a one to one level.

What do you mean by "TheTwin Cities". We are a metro area. The conservatives are a minority in both Minneapolis and St Paul. But step outside the boundaries of these two cities and there are lots of conservatives. John Marty, ultraliberal, gets elected in Roseville. Tim Pawlenty, ultraconservative got elected from Eagan. So conservatives, as a group, choose to live in places where John Kline and Michele Bachmann serve in Congress. Moderates in western communities where Jim Ramstad was the congressman. Its a mixed bag in the suburbs.

Lots of liberals, HUGE LGBT community, largest Hmong community in the US I believe along with East African (you're more likely to throw a stone and hit an Ethiopian restaurant than Chinese take-out), one of the most active and diverse theater/performance cities in the US period. So. There's that.

Lots of people vote democrate in the state, but in their hearts they are really something else. They vote thinking that dems are for the working class and for poor people. When you look at the actuals, dems transfer wealth to the rich at a faster pace than repubs, and put up more barriers to entry for small businesses enriching large corporations. I am an anarchist, I don't like either side. Basically I am saying that most of the people are too stupid politics wise to know any better. If you try to talk with most of them, you will understand that basically know nothing about the economy or politics.

Minneapolis and St. Paul proper are overwhelmingly liberal (Hennepin & Ramsey counties), but the suburban/exurban counties of the Twin Cities actually lean conservative (Dakota, Carver, Wright, Scott, and Washington). There are plenty of conservatives here, but most of them live in the suburbs.

It seems like the parts of Minnesota with more people are like Massachusetts to some degree.

I think one thing is for certain. The liberal faction has a much larger presence in just about all forms of social communication, whether it be newspapers, tv, or internet entities such as this. I mean, I read the Star Tribune and associated comment sections and wonder if there are enough conservatives in the MSP metro to count on both hands. Why this is remains beyond me. Many conservatives must be doing other stuff, I suppose.....or maybe I should be looking to suburban outlets for the conservative point of view, as many have mentioned.
