The crappy downtown area of Milwaukee reminds me of the crappy downtown area of Chicago.

I know i'm off topic, but downtown Waukegan, IL kinda reminded me of downtown Freeport, IL if you put it on the shore of Lake Michigan.

The more i think about it though, I'd say Milwaukee has kind of a South Side feel to it. Like the neighborhoods off of the Dan Ryan expressway. Milwaukee definitely doesn't feel like the rest of Wisconsin.

That's because it's far too diverse. (And that's not a criticism.)

Kraftask, good evening.

Which Chicago South Side neighborhoods do you have in mind?

I'm not much of a city dweller so i couldn't name any of the neighborhoods off the top of my head. I'd say all of that general area has a similar feel. It's almost like they broke off a piece of the south side & put it 90 miles north lol

Kraftask, good morning,

I'm thinking of Chicago's south side neighborhoods that I typically frequent.

Well Chinatown is right off the Dan Ryan, and that would definitely NOT be like any Milwaukee neighborhood.

The rest of Armour Square, however, could be like a south side Milwaukee neighborhood, I suppose. An older area, multi generational, working classed, semi-diverse...
