Please Argue with me or agree why Miami/FLL is the best tropical climate (major)city in the world
Check my recent thread: "Honolulu vs Miami: Where Would You Rather Live?" in the City vs. City forum.

I posted this to refute your claims. Honolulu is WINNING in a LANDSLIDE (75% so far).

Granted, an internet poll is NOT scientific but I think it makes a pretty strong case. Don't get me wrong, I like Miami a lot but So. Fla is NO Hawaii!

And you really should NOT bother with the stereotypes (i.e., "potheads" in Hawaii b/c you can also say all the "cokeheads" are in Miami). LOL!

Just a few reasons Honolulu wins:

1. Climate is VASTLY superior to Miami (less rain, less humid, more temparate in winter, etc.).
2. Topography is VASTLY superior in Honolulu.
3. Best surfing in the world. Miami is a LAKE.
4. Honolulu is MORE diverse than MIAMI (15% "mixed" race vs. just 5% in Miami, as of the 2000 census). Sorry, most Hispanics in Miami are merely "exotic" white folks. No offense.

I've always heard that Hawaii is a great place to live.

How do I sign up?

Seriously.

1) I guess that's personal preference
2) True. I love places where mountains/hillsides meet the sea.
3) I have never gone surfing, but if you're a surfer then yes, Hawaii is much better than Miami!
4) "Exotic white folks" - I like that! I guess you could call me one of those But yeah, there are almost no Asians in Miami. Plenty of American and Caribbean blacks, though.

Hong Kong seems a lot like Daytona Beach. NE Florida coast south of Jacksonville the best climate in the state IMHO..

I agree. NE weather stinks. Southern Florida has great beach and boating weather most of the year and a great winter climate where you actually enjoy being outside without needing an ocean breeze or to run fromA/C to A/C.. Many areas of the country especially in the southeast and out west have many more comfortable mild low humidity days year roiund where you don't need heat or A/C than SoFla.

Honolulu wins hands down. It has a true tropical climate. It is also more diverse than Miami, because in reality, Miami is not diverse.

Honolulu truly is the best city in the entire U.S. and the 29th best place to live in the entire world.

This is not me saying this, its the widely respected and less than a week old Mercer's 2009 Quality of Living Survey when it states:

"Honolulu (29) is the city in the United States with the highest quality of living."

So, I guess Honolulu's superiority is backed by research.

For the sake of comparison (and since this is the Miami forum), Miami didn't made it to the top 50 best cities to live in the world in terms of overall quality of life, but it did ranked 47th (a tie with Wellington, New Zealand) in infrastructure development (ie. electricity, water availability, telephone, mail, public transport, traffic congestion and airport).
