But seriously, during the holidays I went to someone's house (not the same sneaky gal, w/the bean deal), nor were they hispanic either & they served these heavenly tasty sweet bananas w/dinner and I asked the host, if she didn't mind, to give me the recipe (I love to cook ..I cook Galician soups, paella's, etc.), anyhow she remained quiet but later in the kitchen all quiet she tells me, "you know, I bought a box of Goya's sweet platanos (sweet banana's) - the long ones, not the ones that are cut - put them frozen right out of the box on a cooking sheet, spread a bit of real butter and sprinkled a little white wine over them, baked for a bit in the oven and that's that".
I've bought them, when pressed for time (yes, good microwaved) and they are very good...one gets like 3 precooked long bananas, all peeled and everything...for like $1.30 - not bad at all.

You can add some mozzarella cheese to those too!

I don't remember if there is a special name for that sauce but for me, Salsa or Salcita (you know spanish people always add that "ita" or "ito" to the end of every word practically) is good enough. :-)

Could it be what Latino Americano's call "Chimichurri??"... I might be wrong, I think that one is green made mainly of parsley. Pollo Tropical's is red, mainly tomato based. Whatever...'salsita' sounds good to me.
Anyone reading this...both are not hot, very safe to eat.

I know Chimichurri from the Argentinians but have noticed Nicaraguans use it a lot also. You're right - parsley, garlic, lemon, olive oil all ground together and I always put it on top of steak - usually Churrasco.
Mind you, I don't know how to cook much of anything (my husband is the cook) but SOME things, I make my business to learn, especially these little simple things that don't require a pot, stove or oven.

i know its fast food but man if they ever introduced it to california it would put every el pollo loco restaurant out of business.

i fricking hate people pronouncing it wrong. i grew up with it being FL-AAAHN and then some cubans out here start americanizing it as FL-ANN

i need to get more of that mofongo stuff. Mmmmm
i had a box of goya sweet platanos but i guess it had turned sour. tasted like vinegar eek.

You should be able to get the beans in any supermarket. El Ebro has black, red, white, chick peas and some other "soup" type things. They're all pretty good.

You should have kept the plaintains frozen until ready to eat. You heat them up from frozen state.

When does your new job start?

Lets get back on topic why Miami bothers us. Tallrick and others mentioned how dangerous Miami has become. Palm Beach is dangerous and getting worse. I have a newspaper article that says it could become the next Miami. I would not buy/invest in any property in south Florida, maybe in central Florida. North FL is still good.
