Funny you should say that, because every single hot summer day or rainy winter day, I tell my wife I wish we were out in Cumberland! (Live around Baltimore)

We both love Western MD, and by Western MD we pretty much mean anything west of Westminster. We make a scenic trip to the Spruce Village Artisan Village every year, and when we're not sure what we want to do for a weekend we will usually pack up a bag and drive out I-70 to I-68. Wineries and breweries are our destinations!

We've only been to Deep Creek once before. Mostly because we make most of our trips spontaneously and Deep Creek rentals usually either have a long lead time, or are too pricey. It's definitely a beautiful place to be though!

Just came back Tuesday from Deep Creek. Been going there for 25 years. I stay in the State Camp ground.

It's a blast, fun for families (grand kids, kids). Swallow Falls, Herington Manor, Oakland, golf (Wisp, Oakland golf course). Plenty of kid things in McHenry.

Always relaxing.

I'm not saying it's Bora Bora.

But, for something in this neck of the woods, you know.

Summersville Lake in West Virginia is much prettier, with warmer weather and with warmer air temperatures most of the year. The clearest fresh water east of the Mississippi River. Deep Creek is the coolest vacation in Maryland other than Ocean City but then there are far better beaches and lakes in other states.

Big thanks! Never heard of this place, been checking it out now. Definitely looks like a place I'd like to spend a week.

Deep Creek Lake is indeed a paradise, offering serene landscapes and a peaceful atmosphere that's hard to find elsewhere.
