In response to your question, we do have electric heat and a heat pump. We keep noticing that our Honeywell thermostat says "Aux" maybe 45% of the time -- from our research that may be unusual.

For the last 2 weeks, our thermostat has literally been set at 55, not a degree more or less. We don't want to let the pipes freeze, but we were trying to save on electricity. That's why it was so frustrating to see this bill -- I don't know what we would have done if it was set on 63 or 68!
You need to do this if you aren't already. And also don't forget to compare at the end of your term if you sign up for a fixed rate. Our term ended at the end of 2014. I forgot to shop around and renew. I went to month to month, and was paying .14 /kwh. in Jan. I then signed up with another supplier and got .08.

And yes, all the dashboards are still available. Or at least I believe they are. I really haven't used BGE as my supplier for years and can't really say if there any missing features. But I can see what I'm using relative to my neighbors, as well as relatively to what I used last year, etc.

But the weather is about 8-9 degrees cooler on average compared to last year. According to BGE, the average last year for Feb was 33, this year is 25.

And you may want to see if an energy audit is beneficial. I paid $450 last month for a 3700 sq ft house. And $150 of that was the BGE delivery fee. Albeit my heat is gas. Not sure if that make a big difference.

You know that's a great tip. I honestly do not know when my original plan expires and it could be just like the cable companies with a big rate jump, I may not even be aware that it happened.
