Thanks for that info, Maine Writer. A bit further south a bean supper would be a huge pot of white beans cooked up with ham hock or two cooked in, depending on the size of the pot.

Used to love State of Maine Soldier Beans, haven't seen them around in a long time though.

Bean hole cooked beans was does commonly on west Texas round-up throughout the 20th century. Most common bean was Pinto.
