I enjoy this forum the most. I find the people here nice and quite informative.
I was looking in Kennebunkport. However, those prices are insane! Coming from NY LI we are use to paying high property taxes (10k-12k+++ per year for a MODEST 3 BR ranch). However, I can’t find anything in Kennebunkport for 500k. Expanding my search.

I wish I could find a home for that price! LoL

Long Island Single family homes (This is 2020, I’m sure it’s up a few more):

Data released by the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island shows that home sales in Nassau and Suffolk counties accounted for around $15.8 billion in the previous year. Long Island's median home price in January 2020 stood at $480,000, which was 6.4% higher than it was a year ago.

Sad thing, For $480, thats for a VERY MODEST 1500 SF +/- House (Avg .25 ac lot). With $9k-$14k in property taxes.

If people were looking to buy away from the coast, here is an example of the types of homes found in Westerm Maine
This is the old Charlie Bartlet property ,(-600 acres), for sale by a good friend who inherited it.

Perhaps, but there it sits on the market since July at the same list price. I don't pretend to know the market in that part of the state, but I can't believe that's typical.
