So there are no real con sequences even after judge and jury convict. Old folks do not commit crimes. Young folks who commit crimes are victims of circumstances?

Not exactly "the only way you are going to get it". The rest receiving health care? 38% receive government sponsored healthcare, split evenly between Medicare and Medicaid, almost 55% receive employer-based health insurance, with the remainder being direct purchase. Housing? Is prison the "only way you are going to get it"? Hardly, since just .7% of the U.S. population turn to the correctional system for their housing needs, with over four times that amount receiving government assisted housing through section 8 alone. "America doesn't like to spend money on law abiding citizens"? Let's have a look: in 2022 Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other health care programs consumed 46% of federal spending. Almost 10% of the federal budget was consumed by other welfare and economic security programs, including fully 1% for food stamps (SNAP) alone. 8% for veterans and federal retirees. Setting aside interest on our debt, defense, education, transportation, sciences, agriculture make up the bulk of remaining discretionary spending. What percentage of those benefitting from government spending do you reckon are NOT law-abiding?
Well there is another good figure. So 7.7% of government spending is on 0.7% of the population who commit crimes. We spend 10 times more money on criminals then we do on law abiding citizens. Until we are spending at least as much money on law abiding citizens, the high crime rate should come as a surprise to no one. Because as it is now, committing crimes, is the way you get government assistance in this country.

"We spend 10 times as much on criminals than we do on law abiding citizens"? Direct spending on corrections accounts for 2.5% of government spending, leaving 97.5% spent on law abiding citizens. And something lost on you is that law enforcement as well as the judicial system work for the 99.3% of the population being protected FROM those heading to prison. "Because committing crimes is the way you get government assistance in this country"?. Seriously? Well over half of the entire federal budget is spent on social benefits for those not in prison. And since those incarcerated for their working years won't be receiving Medicare or Social Security, staying out of prison is an excellent way to receive the most important benefits our society has to offer.

"Unlimited spending for police and prisons, limited funding for everything else". "Committing crimes is the way you get government assistance in this country". "Keeping people in prison beyond the peak age of criminal activity (24) is a waste of tax dollars". Really, where is there for you to go from here?
