It just makes me sad that the old greats, the icons, are no longer around and touring. They used to come to San Francisco and L.A. regularly. I feel so fortunate to have experienced such talent and joy. I'm really glad there are others who are carrying on the traditions and the music.
I kind of discovered Zydeco late in life. (My 40's) so a lot of the icons had already passed on by the time I discovered them. But I watch videos, and enjoy them anyway.

I have so many favorites, but here's a 'newer' performer you might like. Check out Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers. I've seen him 3 times in New Orleans, and once in St. Louis.

He's a really nice man.

And my friend, Grammy winner, Chubby (Joseph) Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band.

Another super nice, super sweet, kind individual.

Thank you Snazzy!! Only a few bars in and I love them! If I ever make it to NOLA I will have to stay at least 3-4 days to take it all in. I get so happy when I even just see an accordion. I have total respect for them. The accordion is a difficult instrument. I play the piano and I could never do it!

See those huge shoulders on Dwayne? It takes some strength to play the accordian with that kind of energy!

I'm glad you liked them. :-)

I forgot the fact that Lafayette has a lot of live cajun music places, especially restaurants.
