My mom works at the Hempstead public Library and she just informed me that schools in Hempstead are in lockdown because of what's going on in Israel. I don't know how accurate this is. I can't find anything online.
A co-worker who lives in the area told her. I can't wait until my mom retires and gets out of that area.
She should have retired 5 years ago. The cops are constantly called to her job because of the HS students that come in and cause mayhem, yet when the cops come nothing is done except the kids are told to leave and they come back next day and start the same crap all over again. It's mostly boys.

If they are in lockdown it would be more likely due to a local robbery while the cops respond. I dont think the population of Hempstead has much to do with Israel.

Schools don't lockdown due to worldwide events. Maybe Jewish schools are taking extra precautions are going virtual today, but public schools are not going to lockdown on the off chance something might happen. Lockdowns are extremely disruptive and have a whole protocol behind them.
I'm sure WH is worried about tonight when the Jewish people are walking to synagogue - that's a situation ripe for some kind of attack.
I know today is Friday but my mom said up and down Hempstead Ave in West Hempstead lots of cop cars so it may have to do with the the attacks in Israel. My mom Still insists schools were in lockdown because she said not one kid came in today or after school and there was supposed to be a class visit and they cancelled. this is regulars Hempstead BTW on Nicholls Court
I thought the stores closed early on Friday in West Hempstead. I thought some owners would to just bother to open for safety today.
