Question for Town of Hempstead zoning. Neighbor wants to put a fence up next to my garage.
How many inches does the fence have to be from my garage or property line? My garage is 12 inches away from the property line. Does the fence have to be 24 inches away from my garage?

Fence can be up to their property line. Permit is only required if fencing is part of a pool enclosure or doesn't meet zoning (typically being too tall in certain locations which would impede vision of corners or driveways).

If you end up in a property line dispute, don't call the Town. They don't handle civil matters like that.
