The DA noted that they decided to pick him up now and that decision may have been related to this young woman’s experience. She did file a police report.
I also read that the police noticed his burner phones and email addresses becoming active again.
Thank Rodney Harrison. It took a real NYPD cop that had the brains to put this together. For 13 years burke and his clowns were just going through the motions.
But they need to get the other killers if this lunatic is just linked to 4.
Burke was dirty that’s why he didn’t want fbi near him sniffing around right?
I read something or heard it. I am confused about a couple of things. They removed a freezer from the house. Do they suspect he had the ladies at his house and at some point put them in the freezer???
Watched the news conference and also referenced an Avalanche car in South Carolina that they used the grand jury to get at it and they also say they removed an Avalanche from the house. That car looked pretty new that they removed from the house.

No one knows if there was more than 1 killer that’s just a theory. Serial killers are almost never convicted for every person they killed only the ones that can be proven.

It varies but serial killers sometimes are just processed and punished for perhaps one to a handful of cases out of various reasons.
Leaf through Murderpieda and you'll find serial killers suspected or even admitted to killing way more persons than arrested, prosecuted, imprisoned or executed.
While it is good to see that justice is served for every single victim of murder, at some point state has to balance that goal with resources and perhaps other bits.
For truly heinous acts of mass murder such as bombing of an airplane or atrocities committed during war or whatever military action you can have things like Nuremburg or other judicial actions lumping everyone together.
OTOH if state is able to get conviction on murder one and execution is carried out just for say one victim is it worth expense and effort attempting to link and prosecute said person for how many other crimes? You can only execute someone once....
Bringing this back on home Long Island wise there is infamous case of Mary Frances Avery Creighton which shows a common pattern to serial killers. Having seemingly gotten away with murder once, many serial killers continue their evil until something stops them.
After watching a few videos about the cases. It seems like the villain or supporting villains here are the mayor of Suffolk County and the Police Commissioner. Both found guilty of corruption and obstruction of justice but likely tampered or cause evidence not to be accessible by detectives until the FBIs got involved.
It allowed the suspect to commit more murders. He could be responsible for dozens more victims.
You folks in Suffolk should've voted out the mayor and his scumbag Police Commissioner.

Sometimes these serial killer types eventually give up the names of other victims …and that can be years down the road while incarcerated.

True, but again when you look at listings on Murderpiedia LE and others often take such claims either at face value or maybe not wholly true. Remember often you're dealing with people who are a sandwich or two short of a picnic basket. They will claim larger numbers of deaths as a way of boasting and otherwise increasing their own importance.
Being that as it may often in final days or hours of their lives (such as before execution) serial killers will fess up if for nothing else to clear their conscious. Heaven knows where they got it from in last innings of their lives...
Usual way of sorting things out is if confession or confessions contain information about a murder that was withheld from public, something only person or persons involved with killing would know. Then you have confessions to murders that previously weren't linked to said serial killer (such as those that occurred in other part of country) but with information supplied it becomes apparent confession is likely or in fact is true.
In end often there often isn't any way to tell how many persons a serial killer offed. Rodney Alcala is believed to have murdered anywhere up to or more than 130. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodney_Alcala

Not really the Mayor of Suffolk County cause there is no such thing. It was the PC and the DA.
