My husband is stumped so maybe some of you can help me. He told me that back in 1980's there was a deli or some type of food place in the mall that had one of those animated bands like you see at fun zone in Nathan's. I am originally from Nassau county so I have no idea. He said it was Uncle.... not sure of the full name. Please help, he's driving me nuts!
News to me or my wife who grew up behind the mall. Pizza and Chinese were the only food places aside from Food Fair groceries.Of course we were in our 20's then.
My husband said it was by Newberry's and it was a German type deli with tables and chairs. They had kids parties in this place. It was next pizza snack. It had Bears that played banjo every hour .They were mechanical. It was like a chuckie cheese.
My brother (younger) texted yes,it was the German Deli. He said it was a thin place next to newberrys with a nasty old curmudgeon behind the counter.(Not his exact words).
That really does ring a bell. I'll ask my mom. Though the German food part doesn't sound right nut we had Avery at something like that. Pardon the typos. Just asked my friends on fb. Mom remembers the place but can't recall the name.
Thanks, my husband thinks the animated band name was uncle boomer but I did not find anything on the net. Keep finding info thanks. I think were getting closer.
