my last two water bills were astronomical due to sprinkler and hose usage and the high rates during the summer. It was about $50 every two months but soared to $220 the last two bills.
Seems high to begin with... from 4/13 to 7/13 (3 months) we paid $25 total (22k gallons). Judging from previous summers, we are expecting <$50 (36k gallons) for the following 3 months. Are you watering more than once or twice a day every other day or something? How many zones? For lawns, they recommend heavy watering but infrequent.
You should check for a leak - has water pressure been ok? Ask to have your water meter reading checked for usage in a day or a week.
For about 20 days in the house, 1500 sq ft house:

$59 for water - it seems high to me, but there was a set up fee for that month. Water also came by to do a new meter reading and they didn't detect any leaks.
When we bought the house, the oil tank was only a 1/4 tank filled so we had to pay to refill it. $633 bucks later...

I watered every odd day. 3 zones. Half an hour each zone. Water pressure is very good. But now you have me concerned. I stopped watering a few days ago so my next bill should stabilize.

Same schedule here with 3 zones also. We also do laundry 2-3x a week. If we use 22k-36k gallons every 3 months even in summer, you should know something is wrong if you're listed at 100k.
