Does anyone else on this board have oil heat? I'd love to see what others pay for oil every year.

I believe oil (home heating) is at its highest level for this time of year. LI average price is $4.15 a gallon and climbing, so a $3500 bill sadly seems reasonable/feasbile..I spent more (approx $4400) last winter as I am sure many others have considering the numerous, once a week converting to gas threads we get here. My LIPA averages $110-$150 per month (less in winter, more in the summer). Water is cheap, less than $50 a quarter.

Oil heat is the biggest scam going. If you have the ability to switch to gas you would have to be foolish not to. The initial cost might hurt but, the savings in fuel is incredible.

For a 5 bed, 4 bath house in Plainview our bills were:

$155 monthly for LIPA which is validated bi-monthly
$50-$120 monthly on avg for heating & cooking (gas) - the high end is the winter. Absolute $$$ saver and best surprise ever after coming from an oil heat home ($2500/yr - and we didn't even keep it that warm!).
$37 every three months for water except for summer which jumps up but not worth mentioning

Thank you all!
Why do you want to know about just Nassau Co? What makes info. about Suffolk Co. unwanted? What's the differntials of utilities in Nassau vs Suffolk?

Cape house

Oil 2-3 fill ups a year $1600-2400. Digital thermostat (best invention)
LIPA is $350-600 a month higher in summer 4 window a/c and pool plus kids are home.
Water $100 every 3 months.

Square footage would probably help to compare apples to apples in terms of trying to estimate utility bills.

We are in Suffolk County in a 2500 sq ft colonial and we just got our LIPA bill it's $700.00 with no central air and only using window ac primarily at night. We do have an in ground pool but it's not heated.
Oil is about $2500 to $2800 and we keep the heat down low.
RIDICULOUS if you ask me!

My house has been 70-72 degrees since June using the central ac. My bill for July was 150$....1800sqft. People underestimate the importance of proper insulation and good windows.
