you're doing pretty damn good.

Here goes:
I went to school for engineering and, although I'm not in the field any longer, I know plenty who are. Here's the scenario of someone I went to school with. He graduated in '92, and then got his masters. He holds a high position in one of the largest companies on LI. The man is brilliant and is a workaholic.

I compared this person's salary to one of my son's teacher's. (I was able to see her salary on a website: SeeThroughNy.com | Home)

Okay, here's the math, I set up a ratio of days worked/salary and the teacher makes about $25 more per day!

Seriously, more than an engineer.

but after they get out of school at 2pm, they stay up well into the night burning the midnight oil grading papers. Don't you get? It's for the children! Now, get back to work, pay your taxes, and be a quiet little sheep.

Default Unfortunately, Cuomo can count too ...

From Newsday Mobile:

Cuomo again points to school reserve funds
politics item

Quote:
The first-year governor added that schools looking at letting go of teachers are "looking at the wrong place." He said that while statewide enrollment decreased over the last five years, teachers grew 9 percent and "supervisors" 30 percent.

"How do you explain those numbers?" Cuomo said. In response to a question about schools saying they are bracing for layoffs, especially in New York City, the governor said: "That's a premise you are assuming because you are responding to what I believe is propaganda during the budget debate."
So never mind when they gnash their teeth and wail about layoffs .. they are full of *^@%^$ and have been steadily and sneakily overstaffing themselves for at least the last 5 years.

I'm glad Cuomo's getting tough with them. Maybe there is hope.

Moderator cut: post was removed

Doubtful.... I posted in another thread about how Herricks Teachers association is really not willing to compromise.... they want guarantees of no layoffs blah blah blah.... They will never agree to going backwards, which means they will just continue with their current contract until we agree.. it doesnt mean much to them.. They have us in a corner.

sorry Corky but you're way off base. I mean, it's hard work keeping our children from eating their paste 180 days a year. So take your PE license and shove it!
