Carbondale seems to be the intersection point for the paths of the 2017 and 2024 eclipse. So what's going on there these days?

The eclipse will begin shortly. The sky is nearly clear, with just a few wispy clouds. We live at the edge of the Shawnee National Forest on a road that dead ends at a moderately popular trail head about a quarter mile past our house. On a busy weekend there may be a dozen cars parked down there. Today, they are parked along the road well past our driveway.

Carbondale SIU stadium was on the NASA broadcast. Appeared to be a great day & good weather for an eclipse.

The sun was in full cycle so may have been most active you will ever see.
