Gov. Rauner did not do a good job! But- the BS that is brought out about him not passing a budget for 700+ days is no more than a demacrat joke. As Rauner has stated many times ( and it's true) the dems could have pasted any budget that they wanted. But, Madigan purposely introduced an inflated budget that he knew Rauner would veto thereby being able to say the it was the governors fault. He did this 2 years in a row. And at that time the gov. said that this was the plan of the dems just to put the blame on him. And he was right. I've been around a long time and for the life of me, I cannot see how you democrats Mod cut. can believe and follow a bastard like madigan. Mod cut.

It is impressive what incite people seem to have into the personality of those they have never met. I come at this from a place of more sensitivity since some of my close relatives have been politicians. I know that they are human.

In my experience, Governor Rauner is a stand-up guy. He is motivated by a responsibility to give back to Illinois, as he and Diana have for many years. I do not understand how someone regularly reading one of our major in-state newspapers could come away with any other conclusion. There have been no criminal charges or investigations during his tenure (aside from the politically motivated one from the Speaker's daughter who somehow is the Attorney General!). He has met and exceeded a standard that few of our recent governors have.

Governor Rauner has been honest and upfront about the challenges that Illinois faces. He has also been very clear about what his agenda would be. I was very concerned that he would be elected along with a Democratic super-majority General Assembly, and Illinois voters failed to alleviate that concern. I thought that he would get rolled by the Democrats in the General Assembly. He stood his ground, to his credit, but probably to his political detriment. Illinois Republicans fought back and flipped a handful of state senate and state house seats. However, that is obviously far from a working majority. For all of you criticizing Governor Rauner's supposed inability to compromise — compromise what? Compromise his entire political agenda? Go for an income tax hike? Go for property tax increases? Make no changes to entitlements? No term limits? Speaker Madigan and the Illinois Democrats gave him nothing. He signed nearly all of the progressive social legislation that made it across his desk. Still no love.

J.B. Pritzker is someone who is just looking for a title. He has a history of that, an account that was made public in those ugly tapes released during Governor Blagojevich's trial. Pritzker has no agenda and no policy prescriptions. He has made a vague promise to introduce a progressive income tax. He's presented no brackets and no figures whatsoever. I guarantee you that this will harm the state's fiscal trajectory over the long-term, whatever short-term revenues it might produce.

I am really concerned about Illinois. If J.B. Pritzker is elected, we are going to be toast. Unless he has no intention of pursuing some of his radical left-wing proposals and has some incredible tricks up his sleeve, we are going to be in for a hard landing. The higher interest rate environment combined with this leftist agenda is going to be very ugly. I cannot believe that there are this many stooges and goons in this state.

This part of your post is just plain hypocritical, as you go forward and attack the character of Pritzker and his motivation and agenda after lambasting people lacking “sensitivity” towards the Rauner. Most of your criticisms towards Pritzker are equally applicable to how vague and guidepost lacking Rauner has been throughout his term. What Rauner *did* actually promise, he failed to deliver. Why would it be any surprise that a rich businessman turned politician who showed failure to lead an Illinois turnaround is now losing in the polls?? Great that he and his wife revamped the executive mansion, but Rauner made no substantive changes to the state in four years.

You assume that I don't know Pritzker...

He's very well-known in the Chicago business community and lived in Evanston when I was younger.

The majority of the voters in the state recognize so, and you will see that reflected in November.
How do you lead a bunch of self serving crooks and morons? They don't care about the people of the state they were happy to try and try to blame all their misdeeds on a Republican because the voters here are stupid. In other states instead of the people fleeing the state the pols would be fleeing the state at gunpoint.

Unless you plan to declare someone dictator like Rome and empower them to make the radical changes necessary to save this state there is not a whole lot to be done.

It couldn’t have been more obvious that it was his job to figure. it. out. It’s not as if it were a surprise that he had to lead a Democratic legislature. He didn’t, was unable to make any movement on a turnaround agenda, didn’t deliver on what he promised, was limp and ineffectual, and will be voted out because of it.

And run the state just like the dump of a casino he sold here in town to finance his campaign.
If you enjoy watered down drinks, and frozen food passed off as fresh; vote for Pritzker.

Anyone who is half paying attention knows that Mike Madigan is running this state. Rauner was only able to serve as somewhat of a gatekeeper to even higher taxes and financial ruin. I didn't agree with all of his policies but he sure the he$$ beats Pritzker, who won't even tell us what the new graduated tax increases will be. Yes, I think Pritzker will be the final nail in the coffin. And Rauner is a millionaire, not a billionaire.

I'm having trouble deciding which candidate to vote for: Sam McCann or Kash Jackson. I know I can't stand either of the front runners.
