Anyone know how this works for an ID resident hunting/fishing license? For a 2nd home owner in ID, do you need to provide driver's license for a hunting license or could you use the home deed, utility bills, etc.? Once you've been a resident for 6 months of course, that much I do know.

I wouldn't be able to spend more than 1/2 my time in ID quite yet, but would like to enjoy resident hunting/fishing status and hopefully owning a home and paying property tax would be enough to qualify me as a "resident" in that regard.

Here is the Fish & Game FAQ on this matter:
https://idfg.idaho.gov/licenses/residency-requirements

Just don't drive yourself into the parking lot at the F&G office or they will look for your driver's license!

You might want to check this online application out to see what is needed for that process. It might not offer the flexibility of not putting in your ID DL number. You'll need to create a log-in:

https://license.gooutdoorsidaho.com/...merLookup.aspx

And FWIW.. in no state is the payment of property taxes alone to get the full priviledges of residency.

Thanks for the link! Not sure why I had so much trouble finding that. Looks like I'd be good to go with mortgage receipts and utility bills, which is what I'd hoped. I get it with the property tax not getting full residency privileges, I was just talking in regard to hunting/fishing privileges specifically.

Roger. BTW, I looked at the price difference between a resident and non-resident combined license in ID.. wowzer. I don't do either so don't possess any knowledge there, but that seems like quite a price ratio....

Now you know why I asked, haha. The tags are way more extreme than licenses too. Look at the differences for an elk tag, $36 vs. $650!

Thank goodness a non-resident snowmobile registration is only $32.50!

Here's an update I went to the twin falls DMV .they will not issue me a Idaho ID card or Idaho driver's license unless I turn in my California driver's license.

I need to work around anybody know what would happen if I just changed over all of my residencies bank accounts The only thing that will be tied to California is my job and the house I own in the Bay area

All I want to do is buy firearms in Idaho and keep them in Idaho I will never bring them to California

I don't mind paying California taxes at the moment.

I'm so frustrated I've been planning this move for 20 years

Any reason to not buy them in ID, and use the process of having them shipped to an FFL dealer in CA, following the usual CA procedures, and then taking them back to ID?

I am not optimistic that the changing of bank accounts will do anything good with CA. You still would be solidly considered a CA resident due to your long term property ownership and job there, and just as solidly not considered an ID resident.

The FFL thing is a huge pain right now in CA around the bigger cities, the shops are so inundated with business they might not want to work with you and/or it could be really delayed due to demand. Hopefully it's temporary. That is the proper way to do it though.
