No wind here really and no rain. This is just that bowl of water being pulled up.
I’m sorry you are in this situation but at least drought is no longer an issue.

One of Marks cams…check out the real time speed that water moves along Steinhatchee River (water has since covered the docks / risen much higher): https://x.com/hurricanetrack/status/...xrQasjmWF8ApSg

Add Idalia to the list. Curious how many happened before 2017 since 1850.

Reason why Idalia wasnt a Cat 4 was the eye replacement just prior to landfall.

High surge into Horseshoe Beach - that rooftop is the top of a standard picnic shelter on the water on what looks to be the NW tip of town, followed by a floating porch with what appears to be someone’s tv Sat dish attached: https://x.com/radaromega/status/1696...xrQasjmWF8ApSg

Video. That gust is when you really feel the true force of the storm. Said from experience but with less intensity.

No sand bags I take it? Good luck. Back during Ike in 2007 the water made it a couple of feet of breaching the levy. That was the difference between a dry house and one with several feet of water like New Orleans during Katrina.

Got a good 3.7 inches of rain overnight, had flickering electricity most of the night. Probably one of the best places in FL for a Cat 3/4 to make landfall, not any really big population centers nearby. Surprising that it's forecast to remain a hurricane right through GA.

Hope you're OK, LKJ1988, mate.

Eyewall replacement.

The closed center of the storm, the eye, goes through cycles. A new eye will form around the current eye. The current eye will shrink, then dissipate, then the new eye will form up and close, forming the new eyewall..

If you watch the radar images of Idalia just as she hits land, you will see the old eye is gone but the new one hadn't closed up.

In this instance it was a good thing. Wind force at the eye tends to drop during eyewall replacement.
