I agree, the architect really messed that up.

If that were my house, never mind the type of window treatment, I'd lose the door and window and have sliding glass doors, or if money is tight, just get rid of the window and keep the door by itself. Maybe if there was no transom over the door and the window height was level with the door it would look better, or if the door was centered and there were two narrower windows on either side, or if the space allowed two regular sized windows on either side.I think the transom was not necessary, thus making the height of the window wrong. I hate the way that looks.

the original poster probably doesn't even live in the house anymore, LOL.
but I fell for it to, as it was bolded.

That's the reason I first responded to the thread. It showed up bolded so I assumed that meant it was a recent post but the bolded post I responded to was actually an old one. I think that's how a lot of old threads get resurrected.

Spammers bring up old threads. Then, when the spammers get deleted, the poster after the spam gets blamed by others.

I wouldn’t put anything there….especially not a valance. The most I would do is a shade on the window.

I know this is an old thread, but I looked too because it came up as having a new post.

Anyhooo....that is a weird placement for that window. hmmmm. I tend to lean towards a shade on the window, with perhaps a plant on a stand underneath to counter the wall space under it and leave the door.

But BTW, depending on how that house is situated, I'm not a fan of glass door and windows in back. Looks like it would be really easy to break in.
